School Websites – a Common Trap
I spend a lot of time on the internet. It’s a passion. I am curious.
So here’s a simple tip when choosing a website designer for your school .
Some web designers are graphic designers, others are web marketers. I would recommend the second. Covenant’s website was done by a former student Mark Barrett of CIMarketing. (I have since used Mark for some other client websites).
Mark’s personal experience of the school really helped the process. He understood the school’s unique flavour. It’s a Christian school rather than a private school. This translates to it being more relaxed, friendly and fun without all the fuss.
He also comes up with ideas I don’t. He has gone beyond the brief and created, and continued to create, websites that work. Web 2.0 is all about two way interaction rather than a one way presentation of information. CIMarketing build on the Business Catalyst platform owned by Abode. The platform makes it so much easier to expand and develop. It is worth finding a good platform as otherwise it can really limit your options.
