The Story of – Land and Sea Sports
The challenge: introduce the company to the power of social media
The result: over 10,000 views in three months for a series of videos on YouTube
Land and Sea Sports advertised for a internet person to help them with Social Media. It was a completely new area for them and they were not sure what to expect. Rather than a traditional resume I created a video using Xtranormal animation. This secured their interest for an interview.
The Land and Sea Sports YouTube channel had only one video. It was a great one. In the 952 days since it had been uploaded it had accumulated 9,811 views. However simply by changing the title, description, tags and category to help it be found in YouTube I lifted the views for this SINGLE video from 10 per day to nearly 30 each day. If this improved text had been added when the video was first uploaded it could have generated over 27,000 views instead of less than 10,000.
Original video | 1st January 2011 | 1st April 2011 |
Total views | 9,811 | 12,632 |
Average daily views | 10.31 | 28.49 |
Land and Sea Sports had a considerable amount of video content but had done nothing with it. After reviewing several videos I selected segments, added some background music where appropriate, inserted some branding and uploaded a series of videos. However most important was researching what people were searching for in YouTube and then including these keywords in titles, descriptions and tags.
In 3 months the ADDITIONAL new videos generated a further 12,643 views. This was an average of 127 views per day for all the videos on their YouTube channel.
The YouTube channel was customised with branding, text and colours. The channel views went from 0.44 per day to 10.34 per day.
The final step was providing training of their staff on how to use YouTube and explaining the importance of writing titles and descriptions.
