The Story of – Miss Fruitcake Kids Party Entertainer
The challenge: rewrite website content to be found by search engines
The result: edited all text, meta-data and headings to include keywords and phrases
Miss Fruitcake’s new website for her Kids Party Entertainment and Drama Workshops was fun, funky and fabulous. But it had a major problem. Google couldn’t find it.
It is one thing to have a website which looks good. It is far better to have a site which appears in search engine results. Miss Fruitcake asked Marketplace Answers for help.
Step 1 – to determine most popular keywords and phrases being searched on locally
Step 2 – write meta-titles based on these keywords for every page
Step 3 – write headings to help Google work out what each page was about
Step 4 – rewriting text to include as many relevant keywords and phrases as possible
One of the challenges was that the site was already designed. All I could do was work within the existing framework. For example the home page has very limited space for text on it. This is a common problem when sites are created by graphic designers rather than marketers. Google can’t read graphics so the actual text on every page is crucial. Remembering that Google is a robot is essential. It doesn’t see the colours and fancy flash. It just wants to know what the site is about and whether it is worth sending searchers to.
At least now the site has a chance of being found by parents looking for a kids party entertainer in Sydney. By the way Miss Fruitcake is a lot of FUN so this was a fun project done in a day.
