Stagnation versus doing a new thing
I saw a quick video on Sydney’s Hope 103.2 radio station website and loved it. It addresses a challenge we all face. Many people, businesses, and organisations are doing the same thing they were doing 2 or even 10 years ago. They have stagnated. What was once fresh has gone stale. Keep an ear out for these all too common sayings…
Stagnation says…
- We’ve never done it that way before
- We are not ready for that
- We are doing all right without it
- We tried it once before
- We don’t have the money
- It’s not our job
- It will never work
The video and these statements made me think. I have heard them all. Hey I have even said more than one of them at times. Yet they are not what characterise me.
In stark contrast to these statements God says to the prophet Isaiah…
Behold, I will do a new thing,
Now it shall spring forth;
Shall you not know it?
I will even make a road in the wilderness
And rivers in the desert.
Isaiah 43:19 KJV
So you can chose stagnation or a new thing. Let’s agree with God and be willing to do a new thing!
